When learning a sport, there are many things that you must improve upon in order to excel. While the mentality, endurance, and motivation come from in-person training, you can learn technique from many different resources. Technique is arguably one of the most important parts of this sport. It can always be perfected and improved upon, and to do this, you can always refer to published media on swimming.

Your coach will give you plenty of tips for how to become a better swimmer. However, watching good technique from YouTube Channels and other websites is also very helpful. This will give you a clearer idea of how to swim, and what your stroke should look like.

In this article, we cover different resources from Youtube, websites, and social media that have exellent advice. They are interesting, and useful in their content, but this is not an all-encompassing list. There are so many more available resources online, however, these are the ones we personally found most helpful.

Swimming Youtube channels

YouTube is probably the best resources for swimming videos and tutorials. Many channels offer swimming technique tutorials and more content to help you learn how to swim or improve your skill. You cannot learn your technique entirely from watching videos, but some of these tips might be the difference between your lost seconds. YouTube videos have a wide range of advice, but it is most helpful as you can watch other swimmers and their technique. Once you know the tips, put it into practice, and master your stroke.

Some of our personal favorites include:

  1. Effortless swimming: This channel features a wide range of swimming tutorials and drills, as well as training tips for freestyle. They also have various commentaries on races that is interesting to analyze as a swimmer. You can learn a lot from their detailed videos.
  2. Fares Ksebati: Ksebati is the name of the man who runs this channel, providing helpful tips to swim faster. He also includes inspiring stories and techniques from other well known swimmers.
  3. FINA: This is the official channel from FINA, the governing body behind all swimming. FINA holds the world championiships for swimming, and here you can watch world-class swimmers compete, while observing their technique.
  4. Swim To Fly: This is a channel intended for kids and beginner adults. They provide tips on how to start swimming with confidence and improve your strokes from the basics, step-by-step.
  5. Swim Gym: This channel provides workouts, and tips to improve your stroke. They also have a few interesting videos that you can watch for fun.
  6. GoSwim: GoSwim does not have many videos for tips about swimming, but they have a lot of detailed videography of perfect technique. You should watch their videos for the close-ups of good technique in order to emulate it in your own stroke.

Swimmers to follow on Instagram

If youre looking for a short dose of swimming information, perhaps instagram accounts about swimming would be a better fit for you. Here are some accounts that provide short tips and tricks about how to improve your stroke.

  1. Alex Shozda: His account provides short tips and hacks to swim better. He also has short reels that contain necesscary advice.
  2. Skills NT Swimming: This is an excellent account that has detailed videos about swimming technique of excellent quality.
  3. Effortless Swimming: This is an Australian community that provides tips not just for technique, but also training advice and motivation.

Websites that offer news on swimming

If you are looking for websites with reliable information about Swimming and news about competitions and timings, these websites are most useful. Visiting these websites once in a while will give you an idea of what the international swimming scene looks like.

  1. Swimming World: This website offers a wide range of news and information on competitive swimming, including results from major meets, interviews with top swimmers, and other resources for swimmers and coaches.
  2. USA Swimming: The official website of USA Swimming, the national governing body for the sport in the United States, offers news and updates on competitive swimming, as well as resources for swimmers, coaches, and fans.

  4. International Swimming League: The official website of the International Swimming League (ISL) offers news and updates on this professional swimming league, as well as results and other resources for fans.

Movies for swimmers

If in case you ever lose motivation for swimming or require an extra dose of inspiration, movies or other media about your sport might interest you. Like any sport, watching the greats always serves as a reminder of the excellence that can be achieved through love for the sport.
